October Is Crime Prevention Month
This month I found a very good site with just a ton of information for Home Safety, Crime Reporting and Community Engagement, School and Campus Safety and Drug Abuse Prevention. Each of these lists will be the highlight for each week in October.
Celebrate Safe Communities is partnered with the National Sheriff’s Association, Neighborhood Link and The Causeway Agency and has put together a rather extensive lineup of information we hope you find useful.
In the right sidebar you’ll see a new link category, October : Crime Prevention Month. Under that there are four links (one for each week) that have a lot of very good information.
The first week covers Home Safety and includes a Home Lighting Audit, Home Security Inspection Checklist, Vacation Checklist Brochure, Preventing Burglaries, Personal Property Identification Record, Prevent Rural Crime and Target Hardening (a 12-page flipbook provides easy-to-read tips on how to strengthen a home’s defenses.) Most of these are in English and Spanish.
If you’ve been around on this website long enough you’ve probably seen similar postings, but since October is Crime Prevention Month and Celebrate Safe Communities has everything in one spot, we’d thought we’d share. We encourage you to share this with family members and friends, especially if they’ve been victims of crimes.
