Good afternoon. Attached is a News Release regarding three individuals who were in possession of 5,044 pounds of marijuana. All three are not U.S. citizens and had traveled with load vehicles from Mexico into Pinal County within the past three to five days. If you would like additional photos let me know.
Also tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. the Pinal County Board of Supervisors will be hearing a proposal from Sheriff Babeu who is requesting immediate funding to start an”Anti Smuggling Enforcement Unit.” The hearing is open to the public and citizens can request to speak at the meeting if they desire.
The Mission of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office “Anti Smuggling Enforcement Unit” will be to identify criminal activity associated with drug and human trafficking and deploy accordingly in an effort to reduce the amount of violent and peripheral crimes associated with both. The unit will be comprised of one sergeant and six deputies.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office “Anti Smuggling Enforcement Unit” (ASEU) will interdict, disrupt and dismantle drug and human trafficking operations in Pinal County.
